Transcript

Day 48 IELTS Listening Practice - Section 2

Topic: College Accommodation Talk

Advisor: Good afternoon, everyone. This talk explains the main accommodation facilities for new students at Brookfield College.

Advisor: The quiet accommodation block is called Maple House. Oak House is closer to the main road, so it can be a little noisier in the evening.

Advisor: The shared kitchen is on the third floor. There is a common room on the second floor, but cooking facilities are one floor above that.

Advisor: The accommodation office is next to the library. It used to be near the student cafe, but it moved last month to give students a larger waiting area.

Advisor: The office opens at 8:30 in the morning. It closes at 5:00 in the afternoon, although urgent problems can be reported later through reception.

Advisor: Students need to pay a room deposit of 150 pounds. The weekly rent is paid separately, so please do not confuse the rent with the deposit.

Advisor: The laundry room is behind the dining hall. Some signs still point towards the sports hall, but those signs are being replaced this week.

Advisor: The study room is in Block C. It was in Block B last term, but Block B is now being used for language classes.

Advisor: Parcels can be collected from the security desk. The accommodation office can answer questions about parcels, but it does not store them.

Advisor: Bicycle storage is near the north gate. Visitor parking is near the south gate, so please use the correct entrance if you bring a bike.

Advisor: Emergency help is available from reception at any time. The maintenance office can repair problems, but reception is the first contact point in an emergency.

Advisor: Please read your accommodation guide carefully and ask staff if any room or facility is difficult to find.
