Day 35 IELTS Listening Practice - Section 2

Topic: Local Park Information Talk

ParkOfficer: Good morning, everyone. Welcome to Greenfield Park. This short talk will explain the main facilities, walking routes, activities, and a few important park rules for today.

ParkOfficer: First, the visitor centre. In summer it used to open at 9:00, but from this month the opening time is 9:30. You can collect maps, ask questions, or report a problem there.

ParkOfficer: The most popular route is the main path around the lake. Some visitors ask about the river path, but that path is partly closed this week, so please use the lake path instead.

ParkOfficer: The short route from the visitor centre to the bridge is 2 kilometres. However, if you follow the full lake path, the complete distance is 3 kilometres.

ParkOfficer: Bike hire is available every day. It was near the cafe last year, but it has now moved next to the station, just inside the north entrance.

ParkOfficer: Families with children may want to use the play area. It is not beside the cafe. It is near the rose garden, behind the small wooden shelter.

ParkOfficer: Please remember the barbecue rule. Barbecues are not allowed on the grass or near the lake. They are allowed only in the picnic area, where there are marked spaces.

ParkOfficer: Dogs are welcome in most parts of the park, but near the lake they must be kept on a lead. This rule protects birds and keeps the walking path clear.

ParkOfficer: There is a guided nature walk at 2:00 this afternoon. The usual price is 5 pounds, but today it costs 4 pounds because the route is slightly shorter.

ParkOfficer: The cafe serves hot food until 4:45 and drinks until 5:00. The cafe building closes at 5:15, although the park itself remains open until 6:30.

ParkOfficer: If you lose something, please go to the ranger office. Lost property is not kept at the visitor centre after midday, so the ranger office is the best place to check.

ParkOfficer: Finally, please keep to the marked paths and take your litter home or use the bins near each entrance. I hope you enjoy your visit to Greenfield Park.
