Transcript

Day 32 IELTS Listening Practice - Section 2

Topic: Sports Centre Introduction

Presenter: Hello everyone, and welcome to Eastfield Sports Centre. I will give you a short introduction to our main facilities, opening times, and membership rules.

Presenter: The sports centre opens at 6:30 on weekdays. Some people remember our weekend opening time, which is 8:00, but from Monday to Friday the doors open at half past six.

Presenter: When you enter the building, reception is directly ahead. The swimming pool is not beside reception; it is further inside the building, beside the changing area.

Presenter: We offer several fitness classes, including cycling, yoga, and strength training. These classes are popular, so they must be booked online. Staff at reception can explain the timetable, but they cannot reserve a class for you at the desk.

Presenter: If you become a new member this month, you will receive a free health check. This is a short appointment with one of our trainers, and it helps you choose safe exercise goals.

Presenter: At weekends, we run family swimming sessions. These begin at 10:00 in the morning. The pool opens earlier for lane swimming, but the family session itself starts at ten.

Presenter: Our main indoor sport is badminton. We also have table tennis and basketball practice, but badminton courts are available every day and are the most frequently booked indoor facility.

Presenter: Please remember that the gym is only for users aged 16 and over. Younger visitors may use the sports hall with an adult, but the gym has a minimum age of 16.

Presenter: Lockers are available near the changing area. You need a 50 pence coin to use a locker, and the coin is returned when you collect your belongings.

Presenter: The cafe is open most of the day. It closes at 8:00 in the evening, although hot food stops half an hour earlier.

Presenter: Finally, I will mention membership prices. The standard adult fee is 32 pounds per month, but students pay a reduced monthly fee of 24 pounds.

Presenter: That is the end of the introduction. You can now collect a timetable from reception or take a short tour of the building.
