Day 31 IELTS Listening Practice - Section 2
Topic: Library Orientation Talk
Guide: Good morning everyone, and welcome to Northbridge Library. I am going to give you a short orientation so that you know how to use the main services.
Guide: The library is open from 9:00 on weekdays. At weekends, we open later, at 10:00, but weekday users can come in from nine in the morning.
Guide: If you are joining today, please go to the front desk after this talk and collect a membership card. Visitors may look around without one, but a membership card is needed if you want to borrow items.
Guide: The building has three main levels. On the ground floor, you will find the reception desk, recent newspapers, and the computer area. The cafe is on the first floor, but the quiet study area is on the second floor.
Guide: We also have group study rooms. These are popular with college students, so please do not wait until you arrive at the library. Group study rooms must be booked online before you come.
Guide: Members can borrow up to eight books at one time. Some people think the limit is ten, but that only applies to teachers who have a school account.
Guide: The computer area is easy to find because it is near the entrance, just to the right of the reception desk. You can use a computer for one hour without booking.
Guide: Printing is available beside the computer area. Black-and-white printing costs 15 pence per page. Colour printing is more expensive, so check the price list before printing photographs.
Guide: For families, children's story sessions are held on Saturday mornings. During school holidays, we sometimes add a Wednesday session, but the regular session is on Saturday.
Guide: Please return borrowed books on time. The late return charge is 20 pence per day for each book. This charge is small, but it can build up if several books are late.
Guide: Finally, please remember that the help desk closes at 6:30. The library building stays open until 7:00, but after half past six, staff cannot renew cards or answer account questions.
Guide: That is the end of the orientation. You are welcome to look around now, and staff at the front desk can answer any questions.
Section 2 is one speaker in a public situation. Keep listening for the full explanation because the correct answer may come after a contrast or correction.
